If we cyclists are to command greater respect we have to show our respect for the road and other road users.  I continue to be amazed and horrified by the utter contempt some cyclists show for others whether fellow cyclists or pedestrians or drivers.  Surely we need to keep the upper hand here and clean up our act too. We cannot just complain.  It seems to me to be something achievable and would strengthen our negotiating position hugely.
